These connectors are commonly used for making ethernet patch cables using shielded stranded Category 6 ethernet cabling. Stranded bulk cabling is the most popular cabling used for patch cables as it provides the most flexibility, whereas solid cable is normally reserved for network runs from the patch panel to the wall plate.
